ETASIS Unveils New 1600W Ultra-High Density Power Module in Computex 2011 列印 E-mail

Taipei-Taiwan, May 5th, 2011

ETASIS ELECTRONICS™, a leading technology owner of high efficiency switching power supplies, officially unveils EFRP-PA60, the first power module with very high efficiency, highest power density, and 100% meets standard PMBus 1.2 design, which cooperates with Intel-based server as a tool of remote power management. The power module supports 1600W at 200VAC input, while 1000W at 100VAC input.

High Power Density
Housed in a compact plug-in rack-mounting module, the ETASIS EFRP-PA60 has a 1U x 2U form factor – it measures just 1.6 inch (4 cm) high by 3.2 inch (8.1 cm) wide. Use of the latest digital design the power density reaches 28.9 W/in³. The 1U x 2U form factor is designed to fit in GPU/Dual Node server design. And the length is limited within 11 inch to meet most of the system requirement.

PMBus for Server Management
In addition to high efficient and high reliability, EFRP-PA60 also incorporates optional Power Management Bus (PMBus). PMBus is an open standard power-management protocol with a fully defined command language that facilitates communication with power converters and other devices in a power system. The protocol is implemented over the industry-standard SMBus serial interface and enables programming, control, and real-time monitoring of compliant power conversion products. EFRP-PA60 supports PMBus 1.2, which is latest standard for advanced server/storage power system, and shall includes:
• Input Power/Energy Reading
• Input Voltage Reading
• Input Current Reading
• Output Power Reading
• Output Voltage Reading
• Output Current Reading
• FAN Speed Control
• LED Control
• Temperature Monitor

EFRP-PA60 has embedded microprocessor and EEPROM transferring data to server controller via SMBus.  The server administrator or system integrator can develop administrative applications to monitor and control power supply based on monitoring results. The power supply is not a “black box” any more. It can be managed and controlled by system and achieve even higher efficiency and reliability.

EFRP-PA60 is to be 80 PLUS®-certified at platinum level. This environmental friendly unit also includes active power factor correction and soft-switching for more efficient power delivery. Swapping from an ordinary power supply to an ETASIS EFRP-PA60 supply should pay for itself in a few short months. The simple comparison is as follows:

Flexibility with Redundancy
EFRP-PA60 supports 7+1/8+0 parallel running and is able to support totally 12.8KW. EFRP-PA60 power supply features active current sharing, which operates from 10 to 100 percent of full load, allowing multiple supplies to be paralleled for very high current applications. The supplies are hot pluggable, have no minimum load requirement, and incorporate low-loss internal ORing Field Effect Transistors (FETs) on the main 12 V output, for fault-tolerant and N+1 redundancy applications.

EFRP-PA60 power supply module series will be available in Q3.
