PMBus Enabled for Managed Server
The Power Management Bus (PMBus) is an open standard power-management protocol with a fully defined command language
that facilitates communication with power converters and other devices in a power system.
The protocol is implemented over the industry-standard SMBus serial interface and enables programming,
control, and real-time monitoring of compliant power conversion products.
EFRP-S657 supports PMBus 1.2, which is latest standard for advanced server/storage power system, which shall includes:
• Input Power Reading
• Input Voltage Reading
• Input Current Reading
• Output Power Reading
• Output Voltage Reading
• Output Current Reading
• FAN Speed Control
• LED Control
• Temperature Monitor
EFRP-S657 has embedded microprocessor and EEPROM transferring data to server controller via SMBus.
The server administrator or system integrator can develop administrative applications to
monitor and control power supply based on monitoring results.
The power supply is not a “black box” any more. It can be managed and controlled by system and improve system reliability.
